On March 6, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community tribal government celebrated National Employee Appreciation Day. The purpose of the day is to strengthen the bond between employer and employee.

The morning started off in the Two Waters Courtyard with a complimentary breakfast of fruits, bagels, pastries and juice. Free soft drinks were served all day long from the Round House Café. Breakfast featured a message of “Thank you for all you do” to the employees from SRPMIC President Martin Harvier and Community Manager Bryan Meyers.

Later that day, all SRPMIC employees were welcomed back to the Human Resources building, which sported purple, yellow and green decorations. Human Resources staff handed out promotional items along with refreshments that included popcorn, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and pink lemonade. It was a chance for everyone to relax and mingle.

Senior HR Generalist Pamela Puleo described the event as “Beautifully organized, wonderfully attended, a good time enjoyed by all. We appreciate our employees very much!”

SRPMIC employees were very thankful for the acknowledgment of their hard work.

“It was very good. I’ve only been here for four months, but I really feel appreciated. It was really thought out,” said Richard Belone.

By offering the refreshments, relaxation and socializing for a day, the SRPMIC recognized that its employees do make a positive difference with their everyday choices. In turn, the employees said they felt lucky to work for a Community that gives back to its employees.
